After being cancelled due to the forecasted snow storm last Thursday, Colonel Gray held the Sweetheart Dance on Thursday, February 20th, 2025. DJ Josh Hood had control of the playlist for the night, offering up a few slow songs for couples and friends alike to sway to. There was also a projector displaying the music videos of the songs, when available. As always, there was a photo booth, complete with props like roses and teddy bears. There was also a snack booth. Students could purchase water, pop, bags of candy, and chips. Different shades of red and pink were incorporated into most student’s outfits.

Last year, the winter formal was held instead of the Sweetheart Dance; it took place earlier and was a huge hit among students.  Whether due to the storm cancellations or the valentine connotations, the turn-out to the dance was a lot smaller than Homecoming or previous dances. Still, I think the music videos and snack booth made the dance more enjoyable and engaging for students. Hopefully, these become a staple for school dances, and the turn-out increases.
