Looking to improve your grade and overall academic enjoyment? Then search no further than this article for some great study tips to help you succeed on your high school journey! One of our reporters, Fiona Le, interviewed three grade 10 students to hear their opinions and advice.

1. You should do ……

The students offered several suggestions to fellow pupils looking to improve their marks.

1/The number one tip was to ask for help, from teachers or your peers, whenever you are uncertain about a topic. Searching the internet should be your last resort, as not all websites or videos are reliable or relevant.

2/It is important that you have a strong understanding from the start, as the subjects will continue to build on one another and grow more challenging. The interviewees suggest you ask a teacher, further review your notes, or check the google classrooms whenever you are studying and discover a difficult topic.

3/Create a study schedule. Set aside time to review your notes, learn more about the subject, and be sure to take some breaks too!

2. You should not do ……

  • Do not skip class. It will be much harder to learn the subject all on your own.

  • Students should try to pay attention in class. Focus on understanding the big picture of the course.

  • Don’t get caught up in the small details, rather ensure you have a thorough and confident grasp on all the major topics before a test.

Some of the most common mistakes students face when studying or trying to achieve a higher grade include procrastinating. The longer you wait to review or research for a class, the more work will pile up. It will take longer to learn the same topics. You may have difficulty recalling certain information. Try to stay on top of your assignments. Handing them in late can cost you valuable marks. To ensure you complete the assignments on time, try creating a step by step plan to finish them.

Next time you are looking for study tips or are trying to improve your grade, don’t forget these great ideas!

Create a study schedule and a plan for each assignment. Try to stay on top of coursework. And ask for help whenever you are in doubt!
